HYDERABAD: Hyderabad Bar elections

Published January 12, 2007

HYDERABAD, Jan 11: The Pakistan chapter of the South Asia Lawyers Forum has invited the attention of the Sindh Bar Council to the fact that the election commissioner of the Hyderabad District Bar Association has not invited nominations for the post of treasurer in 2006-07 polls.

In a joint statement issued here on Thursday, the office-bearers of the forum, Abbas Jafri and Mohammad Aijaz Bawani, said that the post existed in the Karachi Bar Association, Sindh High Court Bar Association and bar associations of other districts.

They also demanded that a committee be appointed by the council to monitor the elections in Hyderabad to ensure transparency.—Bureau
