HYDERABAD, Dec 11: Judge of the The Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC), Syed Ali Ashraf Shah, on Monday awarded life imprisonment to Dhani Bux Abro, Dayam Dahiri and Barkat alias Majnoo Dahiri and acquitted Zareen Shah and Aqeel Arain for lack of evidence.

The judgment was announced in a kidnapping for ransom case of two children of a banker, Sirajuddin Shaikh.

According to details, Hamza 8, and Huzefa 7, were kidnapped on October 6 in the jurisdiction of Baldia police station and a case under section 365-A was lodged on October 12 by the police. The kidnappers had demanded a ransom of Rs3.5 million from the father of the kidnapped children. However, police recovered them during an operation on October 9 and arrested five accused who were challaned.

The court, besides awarding life imprisonment to the three, also slapped a fine of Rs50,000 each and ordered attachment of their movable and immovable properties. In default of payment of the fine, the accused would undergo another term of one year in the prison.
