HYDERABAD, Aug 29: The Sindh agriculture extension department has directed district officers to confiscate products of 39 pesticide companies whose registration has expired.

In a statement issued here on Tuesday, a spokesman for the directorate of Sindh agriculture information said that the agriculture extension department had declared five samples of pesticide and one sample of fertiliser unfit for use.

The chemical analysis of essential farm inputs was conducted by agriculture chemists in Hyderabad and Tandojam.

The companies whose registration has expired are: Sun Rise Agro Chemicals, Prizm Agro Marketing, Farm Care Services, Folior Chemicals, Agri Pest Management, Jaffar Brothers, Archar Chemicals, Bayer Das, Corex Agro Chemicals, Global Enterprises, Sada Bahar Agro Chemicals, King ARP Link, Heera Pesticides, World Qismat, Wel Agro Wise, Al-Farid Corporation, Alfateh Trading Corporation, Apex Agro Chemicals, Millat Agro Services, Rainbow Agri Business, Panam Chemicals, Helb Pesticides, Shandar Agro Chemicals, Arabian Sea International, Exin Chemicals, Agri King, Rose Wood, Crop Guard Agro Chemicals, Help Agro Chemicals, Zainex Agro Chemicals, AMB Agro Services, Thakur Agro Chemicals, Top Class Enterprises, Orient Chemicals and Farm Eco Enterprises.

The pesticides samples were drawn from the possession of pesticides and fertilizer dealers Imdad Shah of the Sheerazi Pesticides, Nawabshah, Veer Ban of Mirpur Mathelo, Sajjad Hussain of Sanghar district, Shamsuddin Mugheri of Qamber-Shahdadkot district, Arain Pesticides Jhudo Road, Tando Jan Mohammad and Darshan Lal of Ubauro.

The officials have been directed to lodge FIRs against those from whose possession, samples were recovered.

All the stock of pesticides and fertilizer bearing the same batch number would also be seized.

The agriculture department has notified pesticides and fertilizer quality control laboratory Mirpurkhas for the purpose of testing fertilizers under the Sindh Fertilizer (control) Act 1994.

Mirpurkhas, Sanghar, Umerkot and Tharparkar districts will be covered by the laboratory and their samples will be tested there.

The assistant chemist of Mirpurkhas laboratory has been nominated as analyst for the districts.
