LAHORE, Aug 12: A seven-event card promising competitive racing action in connection with the Independence Day celebrations highlight the day and night Lahore Summer Meeting to be held on the eve of the auspicious occasion at the Racecourse on Sunday.

Six of the seven will be cup races named Independence Day Cup and Jashn-e-Azadi Cup for different classes.

Excitement and sentiments blend superbly as the racing community gives final touches to celebrations for the day. The entire race club complex has been tastefully decorated.

The feature event, the PTCL Jashn-e-Azadi Cup for class IV Division I and II has eight runners barring last-minute withdrawals.

Three-year-old colt Tuman Khan, with a fine hat trick of victories to his name, will be tipped to stretch his winning streak to four in a row.

The colt from Tora Bora, Tuman Khan had captured the attention of the racing public with a classic win on his last outing as emphatically as his other half brothers have had.

His biggest quality lies in his spontaneous response to jockey's urging.

Three-year-old filly Discovery and the colt Harry Can View, who are doing well should be his challengers in this seventh and last race to be gone over 1400m.

In the main supporting event, PTCL Jashn-I-Azadi Cup for class IV division III to be contested over 1200 metres three-year-old colt First Look seems to be a strong contender to claim the top honours.

The way First Look had won a race on his previous outing his chances are brighter than the lesser fry facing him.

He should be followed by Gold Krik and Ferrari.

On recent performances, Quwat, Jut Bahadur and Golden Goal and Zanjeer will measure each other's strides in the PTCL Independence Day Cup for class V division I over 1200 metrtes It should be close contest between the quartet in this fifth race of the day.

There will be a good match between Quince and Byron, the two chance colts in the Independence Day Cup for class V division I-B over 1200m. Quince enjoys form advantage.

Love Moon, Puma Princess and Cross Ruff should fight for the frame in this fourth race of the card.

Gorcee The Great, Scarlet Empress, Tosca and Hallo Dancer are the pick of the 18 strong field for the Independence Day Cup for class V division II to be contested over 1200 metres.

If bloodline matters and it do matters in racing, Tosca should have the better of them all. The rest should fight for less remunerative positions.

Three-year-old filly, Noor, looks a cut above in class and bloodline in the August Cup and the second race in racing order. This daughter of Cisco Wells will be going all out to make it two in a row. Dancing Star, Shim Jim and New Bhakkar will fight for the board.

Five-year-old gelding Mystic should make amends for his defeat last time out and win the opener this time. Shadow Snatcher, Bahar-I-Bhakkar and Sohna Billoo are the next choice in the same order. The first race will be held at 5pm.
