QUETTA: Seven people were killed and over 20 were injured on Sunday when two Mazda trucks collided with a passenger wagon on a bridge at Quetta-Sukkur portion of the National Highway near Zamindar Hotel in Mach area of Kachhi district.

According to police, they and rescue workers reached the place of the accident soon after the accident and transferred bodies and the injured to Mach Civil Hospital.

The condition of several injured people was critical and they are being shifted to Quetta for better medical treatment there, police said.

They said the tragic incident took place at the bridge when all the three vehicles tried to overtake each other at the same time at the narrow bridge and collided.

“Seven people sitting in the wagon were killed on the spot. They included children and women,” police said.

Meanwhile, the shortage of ambulances in Mach hampered transportation of the injured to Quetta. According to official sources, only one government ambulance is operational at the local hospital while two others are out of order.
