BAHAWALPUR: A divorced woman was killedallegedlyin the name of so-called honour by seven suspects, including her father and uncle, at Chak 229/EB in district Vehari on Sunday.

According to the sources in the Gaggo Mandi Police Station, after her divorce from her husband sometime back, Saba Bibi (21) started living with her parents. Her parents and relatives had suspicion that she was in a relationship with some man and planned to murder her.

At night, when Saba was busy in her household chores, her father, Zulfiqar, took her in the cattle pen behind their house, where others, including her brother-in-law Tayyub, relatives Naeem and Sarfraz and an uncle, were hiding.

All of them allegedly attacked her with a knife. She suffered serious wounds. On receipt of information, police officials shifted her to hospital but she succumbed to her wounds when she was being shifted to Sahiwal hospital.

On the complaint of Saba’s maternal uncle Bashir Ahmed, police registered a murder case against five nominated suspects, including her father, brother-in-law and two unidentified suspects.

According to police, Saba’s legal heirs did not want to register the case, that’s why her maternal uncle became the complainant. Her body was shifted to a local hospital for a post-mortem.
