LARKANA: A meeting of the Awami Tehreek (AT) Larkana District Organising Committee was held at the Awami Chamber here on Sunday, where important decisions were taken, including intensifying the public awareness campaign and convening a district conference.

According to the AT’s spokesman here on Monday, Central General Secretary of the Awami Tehreek, advocate Sajid Hussain Mahesar, said those talking about new administrative units were pursuing the agenda of forces hostile to Sindh, and that the people of Sindh were ready to make every sacrifice to protect their land.

The session was presided over by District Organiser Advocate Zulfiqar Merani, with special participation by central leader advocate Sajid Hussain Mahesar. The meeting was attended by District Secretary Mustafa-ur-Rehman Abro, Ali Hassan Waqo, advocate Aitzaz Gainchoo, advocate Ali Muhammad Waqo, Muhammad Khan Chandio and Dr Suresh Kumar.

The meeting decided to run a public awareness campaign across Larkana district. Taluka-level organising committees were also constituted.

It was also decided that the Awami Tehreek Larkana District Convention and a conference against the conspiracy to break up Sindh, against encroachments on water, land and mineral resources, and against the illegal Jalalpur Canal and other canals and dams would be held on Oct 30.

Addressing the meeting, the leaders said those speaking of new administrative units in Sindh were facilitating forces hostile to the province. They said the people of Sindh would not tolerate any attack on the unity of Sindh and were prepared for every sacrifice. They alleged that the federal government and the establishment, by talking of dividing Sindh, were working against national integrity. They said the people of Sindh were up in protest against the occupation of Sindh’s resources, ports, lands and water.

They alleged that the Sindh government, by talking of new units, was betraying the motherland, adding that Sindh was one and would remain one.
