ABBOTTABAD: Four passengers were killed, and 10 others were injured when a bus fell into a deep ravine near Kalkot Mor on the Kalkot Road, about 12 kilometres from Lora police station, officials said on Monday.

They said that the incident occurred at around 2:20pm when the bus, travelling from Chubgaraan towards Rawalpindi, fell into the ravine allegedly due to rash, negligent driving.

SP Havelian Jamilur Rehman told Dawn that SHO Lora Waheed, along with police personnel, rushed to the spot after receiving information about the accident.

The deceased were identified as Yasmeen, 61, of Chubgaraan; Marsia Bibi, 6; Rabia Bibi, 9, of Chubgaraan; and Ghulam Raza, 64, of Murree.

Police and Rescue 1122 teams shifted the injured to hospitals in Rawalpindi and Murree through ambulances and private vehicles. The injured included men, women and children.

The bus driver, identified as Fehnad alias Kaka, a resident of Lora, fled the scene after the accident. Police said efforts were underway to arrest him.
