ISLAMABAD: The FIA’s Anti-Corruption Circle, Islamabad, sealed an illegal pharmaceutical storage and production facility in Rawat, G.T. Road, during a major crackdown on the manufacture and distribution of counterfeit and substandard medicines.

In a statement, the agency said the raid led to the recovery of a large quantity of spurious and adulterated medicines, raw materials, and pharmaceutical equipment.

According to the FIA, the seized items included 14,961 tablets, 500 injections, 20,900 syrup bottles of various brands, and 4,630 tubes of creams.

Officials also recovered 1.5m empty hard gelatin capsule shells, 66,258 empty bottles, 1,072 kilograms of raw materials, active pharmaceutical ingredients, nutraceutical raw materials, excipients, packaging material, physician samples, and manufacturing and packaging machinery. Packaged antibiotic and injectable formulations were also found at the facility.
