PRAGUE: Austrian 18-year-old Lilli Tagger won her first senior singles title as she beat Ukrainian Daria Snigur 7-6(7/3), 6-2 in the Prague Open final on Sunday.
Snigur, playing her first WTA Tour final, raced to a 5-2 lead in the first set but did not manage a single set point as Tagger won the next three games.
From 5-5 both players held serve comfortably before Tagger jumped ahead 5-1 in the tiebreak and then converted her first set point.
Tagger, the 2025 Roland Garros girls’ champion, broke in the fourth game of the second set. Tagger, who served nine aces, held easily twice before breaking again in the eighth game to win in one hour, 29 minutes.
