SOUTH WAZIRISTAN: The residents here on Sunday asked the Tribal Areas Electric Supply Company (Tesco) to restore power supply to Wana tehsil and other areas in Lower South Waziristan.
Talking to Dawn, they said that large parts of Lower South Waziristan had remained without electricity for nearly three weeks after strong winds and heavy rain brought down 10 electricity poles in Wana tehsil, disrupting power supply to several villages and causing severe hardship for thousands of residents.
The residents urged the officials concerned to take notice of the situation and ensure prompt restoration of electricity.
They said that electricity poles collapsed during a spell of intense rain and wind approximately 20 days ago. “Despite the passage of nearly three weeks, no repair work has been initiated,” a local said.
He said the prolonged power outage disrupted daily life, affecting households, businesses, agriculture and access to clean drinking water.
