QUETTA: Family members of alleged enforced disappearance victim Asif Baloch, along with rights activists, staged a protest outside the Quetta Press Club on Saturday, demanding his immediate release. They also called for an end to enforced disappearances in Balochistan.

The demonstration was organised by the Voice for Baloch Missing Persons (VBMP).

Protesters carried placards and banners bearing slogans against enforced disappearances. VBMP Chairman Nasrullah Baloch and other activists also participated in the protest.

Addressing the gathering, the protesters described enforced disappearances as a grave violation of human rights.

They said that if an individual is accused of committing a crime, they should be produced before a court of law and tried in accordance with due process. Otherwise, they should be released immediately.

The protesters also condemned what they described as the unlawful detention of peaceful leaders of the Baloch Yakjehti Committee, calling it unacceptable.
