DERA GHAZI KHAN: As many as 11 gangsters of the Maavia Chakrani gang, a second group of the notorious Ladhi gang operating in the Dera Ghazi Khan region, on Wednesday surrendered to law-enforcement agencies (LEAs).

A ceremony was held at the Kot Mubarak police station to formalise the surrender, attended by Deputy Commissioner Dera Ghazi Khan Muhammad Usman Khalid, District Police Officer Sadiq Baloch, and Commandant of the Border Military Police Ameer Taimoor. During the event, the gangsters laid down their arms, including heavy weaponry.

The individuals who surrendered were wanted in numerous serious criminal cases, including murder, attempted murder, robbery, highway banditry, and kidnapping for ransom. Those who turned themselves in were identified as Maavia, Muhammad Qasim, Shehzad, Bilal, Muhammad Yousaf, Muhammad Yaqub, Muhammad Musa, Ghulam Mustafa, Muhammad Younis, Muhammad Haroon, and Muhammad Ramzan.

Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Usman Khalid stated that the surrendered individuals would face the legal proceedings pending against them in courts. He assured that the government would provide every possible support to reintegrate them into the national mainstream.

He said the establishment of lasting peace in the region would accelerate development activities, ensure the provision of basic facilities to the local population, and channel development funds toward the area’s reconstruction and progress.

DPO Sadiq Baloch reaffirmed that law-enforcement agencies would extend full legal assistance to those who had surrendered. He added that LEAs would continue their robust efforts to maintain law and order and eliminate criminal elements from the area.

Commandant of the Border Military Police Ameer Taimoor said LEAs were working collaboratively and taking effective measures to establish peace in Sulaiman Range.
