TOBA TEK SINGH: A young man who had raped and strangled a four-year-old relative girl has been killed in an alleged encounter with Warburton police in Nankana Sahib.
Police claimed that a team of investigators was bringing back the suspect after seeing the place of rape in the fields when he escaped on a motorcycle with the help of his accomplices. Police chased and intercepted them but they opened fire on the policemen who also retaliated. A shoot-out between both parties started.
When firing stopped, police found the rape suspect dead and claimed that he had died of the gunshots fired by his accomplices who managed to flee in the darkness.
ACCIDENTS: Four persons died and two others were injured in separate road accidents in Khanewal district.
In first accident, two members of a family died and as many were injured in collision between two motorcycles and a van near Chak 3-Kasi on Multan Road in Kabirwala.
Rescue 1122 shifted the bodies and injured to Kabirwala Tehsil Headquarters Hospital. The deceased were identified as Babar Iqbal (32) and his wife Fatima Bibi (30), while the injured were identified as Babar’s sisters, Misbah Iqbal (30) and Zeerish Iqbal (28).
In second accident on M-4 near Shamkot Interchange, a car ran over a man and a woman who were illegally crossing the motorway by foot. As a result, both of them died instantly. They were identified as Muhammad Faheem (26) and his mother Sadia Bibi (48).
In Toba Tek Singh, a tractor-trolley skidded off the road into a ditch near Chak 381-JB Kahalwan on Jhang Road. As a result, Munir Ahmed (56) of Jhang died while Muhammad Iqbal (51) received injuries. Rescuers said the tractor-trolley driver had lost control due to speeding.
SUICIDES: Two men died by suicide in separate incidents on Monday.
A man died by suicide by jumping into Chandrakot Canal in Nankana Sahib.
Deceased Zahid quarrelled with his parents over some domestic issue and took the extreme step over it. His body has been recovered from the canal.
In Jhang, a man died by suicide over a family dispute in Millat Colony.
According to Rescue 1122, the deceased, 50-year-old Muhammad Ramzan, locked himself in a room and hung himself from its ceiling fan.
