LAHORE: Four people, including two women and a child, were killed when a speeding bus collided with a motorcycle on Kabirwala Road in Khanewal district on Saturday.
According to Rescue 1122, the motorcyclist was carrying two women and a child when a speeding bus rammed into it near Adhiwala on Kabirwala Road.
The emergency teams reached the site shortly after being alerted about the accident and shifted the bodies to the Khanewal DHQ Hospital.
The deceased were identified as three-year-old Aiman, 35-year-old Shamshad Mai, 37-year-old Hooran Mai and 55-year-old Zafar.
Police and Rescue officials said the accident occurred due to alleged overspeeding and reckless driving by the bus driver.
DPO Muhammad Abid took notice of the incident and ordered to arrest the driver involved in the incident.
Saddar DSP Saeed Sial and Kohna Police reached the scene, collected evidence and recorded statements of eyewitnesses.
The Kohna Police station registered a case against the driver.
Later, the police arrested the bus driver by using CCTV footage, while the vehicle was taken into custody.
DPO Abid said negligence leading to loss of human lives would not be tolerated and strict action would be taken against violators of traffic laws.
Further investigation is underway.
