BAHAWALPUR: Police arrested two suspects in separate rape cases in the limits of city Kahrore Pucca and Dunyapur Saddar police stations in district Lodhran.

According to police, in the case of Kahrore Pucca City Police Station, the suspect was arrested for frequently raping a widow on the pretext to marry her, extorting Rs200,000 from her, snatching her costly mobile from her, recording her objectionable videos and threatening her of dire consequences.

In the FIR, the woman alleged that suspect had been raping her in her house, extorted money from her with recorded videos and blackmail. On June 16, she said, the suspect called her with threats that if she did not turn up, her videos would be posted on social media. When she reached Multan from Sargodha, the suspect received her and took her to a building near Karore Pucca Railway Station, where he raped her and fled with her costly mobile phone on the pretext to bring nikah registrar. Police arrested the suspect and lodged him in the lock-up. The woman was referred to hospital for medical examination.

In the second case, in Saddar Dunyapur Police Station, a man raped a girl on the roof of her house at Chak 295.

According to the FIR, the suspect knocked on his house door. When the girl opened the door, the suspect tied her hands and mouth with a cloth and took her upstairs on the roof where he raped her.

He fled when she raised a hue and cry. Police arrested the suspect and registered a case on the complaint of the girl’s father.
