GUJRAT: The Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE), Gujranwala, retrieved 76 kanals (9.5 acres) of state land worth around Rs100m in Eminabad, Gujranwala, on Saturday.

A case was registered with Anti-Corruption Headquarters Police Station, Gujranwala, against Najeebullah, Shafqatullah, Tauseef Ahmed, Rana Ashfaq Ahmed (patwari), Mian Nazir (revenue officer) and others.

During the investigation, it was established that the suspects had prepared fake documents and illegally transferred the government land in the name of Sanaullah. Later, the land was fraudulently transferred to the heirs of Sanaullah.

During the investigation, Patwari Muhammad Younis submitted a fake report regarding the recovery of the government land. The ACE did the site inspection and found that Muhammad Ajmal Jag was still illegally occupying the land. It proceeded against nine suspects and recovered the 76 kanals.

A spokesman for the ACE said Patwari Rana Ashfaq Ahmed and Record Keeper Ziaur Rehman had been arrested while raids were being conducted for the arrest of the remaining suspects.
