SWAT: An alleged ice drug addict, who had killed his wife a few days ago, was gunned down in a police encounter here on Saturday.

The police said Saif-ul-Muluk was killed in the Bala Sur area of Matta tehsil.

They said he had taken his wife and their minor child from home on the pretext of taking her to a hospital and then stabbed her to death in front of the child for money.

Acting on information that the suspect was hiding in a house, police conducted a raid. Officials said the suspect opened fire on the police team, prompting retaliatory firing in which he was killed.

Meanwhile, a 30-year-old man was allegedly beaten to death by two individuals in the Isalampur area of Saidu Sharif, the police said. They identified the deceased as Wajid Ali, saying he was on his way to work when he was attacked.

The police registered a case and were making efforts to arrest the suspects.

Also, a nine-year-old boy was killed after a speeding car struck him while he was crossing a road in the Naat Mera area of Barikot tehsil, the police said. They identified the deceased as Inamullah.

The car driver fled the scene.
