KARACHI: A minor boy was run over and killed by a trailer on Hawkesbay Road on Sunday evening, police and rescuers said.

Mauripur SHO Aslam Khan said that the victim was riding a motorbike as pillion rider.

As he got off the two-wheeler on the main road at Musharraf Mor near Pakistan Kanta, a fast-moving trailer coming from behind hit him. The boy died on the spot.

He was identified as 12-year-old Ismail Naveed.

The SHO said the driver responsible for the fatal accident managed to speed away.

The body was shifted to the Dr Ruth Pfau Civil Hospital Karachi for medico-legal formalities.

The police said that the boy was resident of Umra Goth in the Hawksbay area.
