CHINIOT: A young woman and her mother, who had registered a rape case against a youth have been arrested by Lalian police after they retracted their allegation in the court. Before retracting her statement when the investigation reached the stage of the DNA test, she said she did not want to go through the test.

The woman, a resident of Mohallah Umarabad, Lalian, had lodged an FIR on April 18, 2026, against a youth for raping her at gunpoint at her house. In the FIR, she mentioned that she was residing with her mother after her divorce. She was alone in her house on the night of April 16, when the suspect, a resident of Chak Bahadar, forced his entry into the house and took her in an empty room and raped her at gunpoint. On her hue and cry, her brother and neighbour reached the house but the suspect fled.

Her mother called police helpline and after her medicolegal, a rape case was registered against the suspect.

During the course of the investigation, the rape victim also appeared before the area magistrate on May 5 and recorded her statement, confirming her rape.

The accused was arrested on May 12. The woman was directed to attend for a DNA test but she refused due to which the DNA could not be done.

She appeared before court on May 19, stating that she did not want the DNA examination. On May 21, 2026 when the suspect’s bail plea was being heard in the court of the additional district and sessions judge of Lalian, the woman submitted before court that she had nominated the accused on the basis of suspicion and now she is satisfied about his innocence that he had not committed her rape.

She also submitted an affidavit in this regard after which the bail plea of the accused was accepted. The police alleged that the young woman, in connivance with her mother, had benefited the accused after getting material benefits from him and retracting from allegation of rape.

After registering a case against them, the Lalian police arrested them.
