TOBA TEK SINGH: Two suspects were killed while two others were arrested in injured condition during four alleged encounters within the limits of different police stations in Faisalabad on Saturday night.

A police spokesperson claimed that a Jaranwala City Police party led by ASI Zafar Iqbal were taking detained suspect Moazzam Ali Jat for recovery of looted valuables in Chak 126 GB when his four accomplices attacked the police party near Canal Road. He claimed that they were able to set him free from the police van and additional police force arrived at the scene led by SHO Muzaffar Ali Khokhar after being informed.

He claimed they chased the outlaws who hid in a crop field and after an intense exchange of fire, suspect Moazzam was injured by the fire of his own accomplices and he later died in the hospital. According to the police, the deceased suspect was wanted in more than 50 robbery cases.

In the second encounter, a Samundri Saddar Police team signalled four suspects riding two bikes to stop, but they allegedly opened fire on the cops near the Mahlam Canal Bridge and fled towards nearby fields.

SHO Muhammad Adnan and his team also reached the scene after being informed. After an exchange of another spell of fire, one suspect identified as Gulfam was found injured by the firing of his fleeing accomplices. He was shifted to the Samundri THQ Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. He was wanted in 21 robberies.

In another encounter, Madina Town Police claimed that an alleged robber was arrested in injured condition. Police said that a police party led by SHO Adeel Akram had set up a temporary picket on Ghousia Road when three suspects on a motorcycle were stopped by the police. However, police claimed that they opened fire on the policemen, which was also returned. When the firing stopped, police claimed to have found one suspect wounded after a search and claimed that he was injured by the bullets fired by his accomplices who had escaped. He was arrested and shifted to the Allied Hospital. He was identified as Abdul Jabbar of Chak 465 GB and was found involved in a number of robberies and thefts.

Meanwhile, the Nishatabad Police claimed to have an encounter with four armed suspects riding on motorcycles near Pul Dengro.

Police claimed that notorious drug dealer Khawar Abbas was injured by the fire of his accomplices and they recovered weapons and more than one kilogram of heroin from him. He was shifted to the Allied Hospital.

BIRD STRIKES: A meeting held on Sunday discussed preventive measures for bird strikes to make the airport and Pakistan Air Force air bases in Faisalabad division safe.

Commissioner Musarrat Jabeen chaired the meeting and emphasised on ensuring zero waste in the vicinity of the airport and the air base during Eidul Azha. She said that pigeon racing, use of laser lights, throwing meat and animal waste in the said areas were a serious threat to flight safety. She directed that tree branches in these areas should also be trimmed while data of fish and poultry farms should also be collected. She said that a public awareness campaign should be intensified about not throwing meat and waste of sacrificial animals around the airport and air base.

Deputy Commissioner Nadeem Nasir, Airport Manager Tasneem Akhtar, Additional Commissioner Coordination Tanveer Murtaza were also present, while the DCs of Jhang, Chiniot and Toba attended the meeting through video-link.

ARREST: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Faisalabad Anti-Human Trafficking Circle team claimed to have arrested proclaimed offender (PO) Sikandar Hayat, wanted in human smuggling cases, on Sunday.

According to details, in 2024 a case was registered against him and the accused was charged with defrauding a resident of Chiniot by illegally sending him to Iran and then onwards to Iraq after taking Rs50,000 from him.

FIA said that from there he was to be smuggled to Europe but the Iraqi police arrested him and he spent three months in jail before he was deported to Pakistan.

An FIA official said the accused and his network were involved in illegally smuggling people. He said that accused Sikandar Hayat was absconding to avoid arrest and had been declared a PO by a court. A special team of the FIA, acting on intelligence through modern technical resources and intelligence, arrested the accused, the official said.

ACCIDENT: A motorcycle rider died and his pillion was critically injured after their speeding bike collided with a donkey cart near Chak 77 GB on Satiana Road in Faisalabad on Sunday.

Rescue 1122 officials said that biker Akhtar Rasool (58) died instantly while his pillion Ali Raza (28) of Chak 239 RB was Shifted to the Allied Hospital.

In another accident on Samundri Road, a tractor trolley hit a motorcycle near Nisar Colony, as a result, biker Muhammad Nadeem (35) and his wife Ghazala Perveen (30) were injured. Later, the woman succumbed to her wounds while Nadeem was shifted to the Faisalabad DHQ Hospital.

MURDER: Unidentified persons fired indiscriminately on a motorcycle rickshaw driver and killed him near Amer Town at Khanewal when he went to the area to drop a passenger.

He was identified as Abdul Rehman (35) of Kachi Abadi and his body had been shifted to the Khanewal DHQ Hospital for autopsy while the police were investigating the incident.

IRREGULARITIES: Faisalabad Deputy Commissioner, as the president of the Chenab Club, directed the club secretary on Sunday to immediately halt development and renovation work at the club.

The DC had reportedly received a complaint from an executive committee member about alleged irregularities by the secretary in granting the contract of the development work of the club. The DC also formed a three-member committee to probe the charges leveled against the secretary and directed them to submit a report within a fortnight.

The inquiry committee consists of FDA DG Muhammad Asif Ch as chairman, Faisalabad Intelligence Bureau Director Ahsan Feroze and Faisalabad Development Director Naveed Iqbal.
