CHITRAL: Pre-Shandur Polo Tournament will commence tomorrow (Tuesday) in the centuries-old historical polo ground of Chitral town in which 63 teams drawn from different villages of Chitral will participate.

The draw ceremony of the event was held under the supervision of AC Headquarters Riaz Ahmed and additional AC Muhammad Isa Khan, attended by captains of the participating teams.

Speaking to local media, the AAC explained that all the teams have been divided into four groups in which the top four teams from last year’s tourney were placed in separate groups to maintain a balanced competition.

He said that the event will officially kick off on May 12 with a prestigious opening ceremony at the polo ground.

This tournament serves as a preparatory phase for the world-famous Shandur Polo Festival, which is scheduled to take place from June 11 to 13 at the world’s highest polo ground.
