LAHORE: The 12th death anniversary of human rights activist and lawyer Rashid Rehman was observed in Multan on Thursday, where speakers demanded justice in his murder case which remains unresolved.

The event was held at a local hotel in Multan which was attended by lawyers, human rights activists, civil society members and individuals from different walks of life.

Human Rights Commission of Pakistan Chairperson Asad Iqbal Butt said that Rehman was a courageous lawyer who consistently raised voice against feudal oppression, social injustice and violations of fundamental rights.

He said the late lawyer devoted his professional life to defending the marginalised and voiceless segments of society.

HRCP council member Lubna Nadeem said Rashid Rehman provided legal assistance to thousands of vulnerable individuals, including Mukhtaran Mai, and also played a key role in securing the release of children subjected to forced labour.
