TOBA TEK SINGH: The Faisalabad Madina Town Police on Tuesday arrested two of the four accused persons, business partners in a wedding hall, for allegedly killing their fifth partner over a monetary dispute.
Complainant Nabila Tariq claimed in her FIR that her husband Tariq Mahmood was a partner of Rs25 million in the business.
She said that her husband had been asking for some money from his partners Azam, Ijaz, Arshad and Khurram for the last few months but they were making excuses.
Over this, she claimed that they had a quarrel and the accused persons gave her husband some sedatives mixed in tea and he became unconscious. Afterwards, she claimed that they, along with their gunman Salim, tortured him and when his condition deteriorated, he was shifted to the Allied Hospital.
She further claimed that her son and daughter reached the hospital where her husband told them about the incident before breathing his last.
Police spokesperson said that two of the five accused persons, identified as Salim and Arshad, had been arrested and raids were underway to arrest the others.
CAUGHT TAKING BRIBE: A Faisalabad anti-corruption establishment (ACE) team headed by Assistant Director Sarfraz Warraich claimed to have caught Land Record Arazi City Centre In-charge Mahmood Ahmad while accepting bribe from a citizen for the transfer of his inherited property to his name.
Judicial Magistrate Muhammad Asif Pasha recovered the marked currency notes which the accused had received from the complainant.
VISIT: The University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF) celebrated the ‘French Language and Francophonie Week’ with a visit from Fabrice Disdier, Director of Alliance Française Lahore (AFL).

INAUGURATION: Punjab Higher Education Department Deputy Director (Colleges) Naeem Khan Lashari inaugurated the career counseling center established at the Jhang Government Graduate College for Women with the aim to guide students in their academic and professional pursuits.
Principal Najma Nahid and focal persons, Khadija-ul-Kubra and Samina Hameed, informed the participants that the initiative aims to equip students with essential knowledge about diverse career options, higher education opportunities, and skill development pathways. The principal also announced free admission to the first year classes in pre-engineering, pre-medical, ICS, computer science, and English, based on class 9 results.
Metro Bus: Member Punjab Mass Transit Authority Zahid Saeed chaired a meeting on Tuesday at Faisalabad where it was told that construction work on the Metro Bus project (MBP) in Faisalabad will begin in a couple of days.
The meeting was informed that all preparations have been completed and construction work will be inaugurated in Tahirpura near the airport on Jhang Road. The meeting was also apprised that 27 metro buses and two trams would run on the 20.3km Orange Line from Faisal Town on Jaranwala Road to Tahirpura on Jhang Road and 21 stations would be built for the purpose.
Commissioner Musarrat Jabeen and DC Nadeem Nasir informed that the MBP would cost Rs79 billion and would be completed in one and a half years. They added that the project included two depots and seven U-turns.
Mr Saeed directed Wasa, Fesco, Sui, PHA, municipal corporation, traffic police and PTCL to immediately transfer the remaining utility services. He said that dumping sites were also being finalised for timely and safe disposal of the material. He directed the traffic police to publicise the alternative traffic routes plan. He said that the rights of citizens would be ensured during the construction process.
