SARGODHA: The anti-corruption establishment (ACE) arrested superintendent at the CEO health office for receiving a bribe of Rs40,000 to process a contractor’s bill.
Reports said Rabnawaz, son of Ehsanullah and a resident of Chak No. 93-SB, Sargodha, lodged a complaint with the ACE regional director stating that he is a contractor and superintendent Muhammad Rafiq had already received Rs400,000 as a bribe to process his bill worth Rs4 million. The suspect was allegedly demanding an additional Rs100,000 and had asked for Rs40,000 to be paid on the day of the raid.
Acting on the complaint, a special team from the ACE Regional Directorate Sargodha, led by Circle Officer Asif Iqbal, conducted a raid under the supervision of Section 30 Magistrate Zakaul Hassan. During the operation, Muhammad Rafiq was arrested red-handed while accepting the bribe, and Rs40,000 were recovered from his possession.
A case (No. 4/2026) has been registered against the suspect at the ACE police station. Further investigation is underway.
ACCIDENT: A nine-year-old student died after falling from a speeding school rickshaw.
Abdul Hadi, a resident of the Hafizabad area in Bhera, fell from a rickshaw carrying schoolchildren on Jhawarian Road. He sustained critical injuries and later died. After medico-legal formalities, the body was handed over to the family.
ROOF COLLAPSE: A 55-year-old labourer, Muhammad Ayub, was seriously injured when the roof of his house collapsed after rain at Chak 130-SB, Sillanwali. His wife, Salma Bibi (50) and their seven-year-old son Muhammad Bilal narrowly escaped being trapped under the debris.
Rescue 1122 teams carried out an operation to retrieve the injured and shifted him to the THQ Hospital.
Heavy rain accompanied by thunder and lightning inundated large parts of Sargodha city, causing widespread power outages and damage. The authorities said drainage clearance and restoration of electricity were ongoing in affected areas.
GANG-RAPE: A 14-year-old boy was allegedly gang-raped by two suspects in Sargodha city.
Reports said suspects ‘A’ and ‘F’ took the boy to Cheema Dera in Pathan Colony, Chak 40 NB, and allegedly gang-raped him. The suspects threatened the boy with serious consequences by making a video.
The Satellite Town police registered a case on the complaint of the victim’s father.
