Three transpersons held for ‘torture’ of old man

BAHAWALPUR: Burewala Model Town police in Vehari district claimed to have arrested three transpersons for allegedly blackening the face of a physically-challenged old man and torturing him, after a video of the incident went viral on social media.

According to district police, DPO Tasawar Iqbal took notice of a social media video clip showing three transpersons torturing an elderly disabled man and blackening his face, directing the police concerned to register a case against the suspects and arrest them.

Accordingly, a Model Town, Burewala, police led by SHO Mahar Qaisar Manzoor, arrested the three suspects – Mohsin, Minahal and Usman – after registering a case against them.

The police said that the victim, Ghazanfar Shoaib, worked as a house help for the transpersons who subjected him to torture and humiliation over suspicion of theft.

GANG BUSTED: Burewala city police claimed to have busted a robbers’ gang, arresting its ringleader and two members.

As per the police, the gang leader Azmat, and his accomplices Naveed andMuneab were allegedly involved in 13 cases of snatching mobile phones and motorcycles.

The police recovered nine snatched motorcycles, a rickshaw, mobile phones and other valuables from their possession.
