CHINIOT: Following the allegations of doctors’ negligence resulting in the death of an old man suffering from chronic kidney disease at the Chiniot DHQ Hospital on Wednesday, a committee has been constituted to probe the matter and fix responsibility.
As per reports, Allah Ditta, an old man of Mouza Kolian, who was brought to the DHQ hospital with kidney problem on Wednesday, died. After his death, his daughter alleged that he remained in the emergency ward for five hours, but no doctor treated him.
In a social media video, the wailing woman, who was standing near the body of her father,alleged that he was brought to the emergency ward of the DHQ hospital with kidney issue. She said the doctors on duty did not attend the patient despite her repeated requests, resulting in his death.
Taking notice of the video, the local administration and hospital’s Medical Superintendent Shaukat Nadeem compiled a preliminary report, which says that the patient was brought to the hospital around 11:15am on Wednesday, and was diagnosed with acute kidney disease. His lab test showed high levels of creatinine and blood urea, and low hemoglobin and white blood cells, the report adds.
It claims that an ultrasound was conducted and the patient was given medicines. However, during the treatment, the patient suddenly developed cardiac arrest and despite immediate resuscitation efforts, he expired, it adds.
The MS says that a committee, comprising DMS Dr Ameer Moavia, Consultant Surgeon Dr Kamran Shahzada and Head Nurse Munaza Qamar, has been constituted to probe the matter and fix responsibility, in case of any negligence by the doctors and paramedical staff is found.
