BAHAWALPUR: The bodies of a man and his two minor children were exhumed in Uch Sharif on Thursday and their body parts were sent for laboratory analysis on suspicion that they were poisoned to death.
Rao Anwaar and his children, Ihtesham (4) and Shanze Bibi (2), had died in Shamsabad locality last week after eating watermelons and drinking milk. Anwaar’s sister, Fatima, suspected that her brother and his children were poisoned to death. The police officials told
Dawn that the graves were exhumed in presence of a magistrate after the registration of a case of alleged poisoning.
In her complaint, Anwaar’s sister said the case needed a thorough investigation for which she had requested the court to carry out the exhumation of the graves.
Anwaar had died at the Bahawal Victoria Hospital (BVH) Bahawalpur while his two children had died at THQ Hospital, Ahmedpur East.
RAPE: Saddar police Lodhran claimed to have arrested a 60-year-old man for raping two minor sisters.
According to police, the suspect had been raping both 13-year-old and her elder crippled 15-year-old sister.
Saddar Police Lodhran registered the case on the complaint of the younger sister against the suspect. In her complaint, the 13-year-old said that about 10 months ago, the nikah of her elder sister was solemnised with the son of the suspect. About six months ago, her mother took Rs200,000 and married her to the suspect.
Meanwhile, the suspect’s son divorced her elder sister but she started living with her in her house where the suspect continued raping both the sisters.
The complainant said the suspect got drunk on April 14 and 15, raped both the sisters and kept them in illegal confinement. Police arrested the suspect from Lodhran’s suburbs.
