GUJRAT: Punjab Minister for Higher Education Rana Sikandar Hayat on Thursday inaugurated a multipurpose hall at the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Gujranwala.

The hall has recently been completed at a cost of Rs 210 million. It has a capacity to accommodate 2,000 students at a time.

The minister appreciated the efforts of the Gujranwala divisional administration and announced that the name of Commissioner Gujranwala/Chairman Education Board Syed Naveed Haider Shirazi would be recommended to the higher authorities for an award.

The minister reviewed the entire process of digitization of the examination system.

The ceremony was also attended by Controller of Examinations Dr Ihtisham Jan Butt, Secretary Board Professor Rashid Ahmad Bhatti, Director Colleges Professor Amanullah Rathore, Deputy Director Colleges Professor Nadeem Ahmad, CEO Education Ms. Atiya Arshad Malik.

COP: A policeman who was martyred by the alleged firing of some robbers in an encounter was laid to rest in his native village Saghar near Tanda on Thursday.

The 30 years old Mirza Umar Aftab Beig was the lone brother of five sisters as well as the sole bread-earner of his family.

The deceased had joined Gujrat police in 2019.
