KARACHI: A suspected robber was shot dead by a citizen during a robbery in Baldia Town on Monday, police said.

They added that the citizen, Riaz, who is a junk dealer, drew Rs20,0000 cash from a private bank in Rasheedabad. As he came out of the bank, three suspects tried to snatch cash from him. However, he put up resistance, took out his licensed pistol and opened fire on them, resulting in critical bullet wounds to one suspect while his accomplices managed to escape from the spot.

A young man was shot dead in Baldia Town on Monday.

The Ittehad Town police said that Abdul Mateen, 35, was riding a motorcycle along with another person when armed pillion riders intercepted him near Mastana Chowk and resorted to firing on him. He sustained critical bullet wounds to his head and died on the spot. The body was shifted to the Dr Ruth Civil Hospital Karachi for medico-legal formalities.
