SUKKUR: The Pak Business Express Train, travelling from Lahore to Karachi, derailed on Thursday near Mahesro, close to Ghotki, when one of its screw couplings broke.

According the Pakistan Railways sources, when the screw coupling broke, several coaches of the train detached. However, all those onboard remained safe in the mishap.

Sources said that passengers faced severe difficulties as a relief train did not arrive on time. Following the incident, several trains coming from behind were stopped at different stations. The Karachi Express, heading toward Karachi, was halted at Ghotki Station while the Awami Express and Rehman Baba Express were also stopped at other stations.

After nearly seven to eight hours of efforts, a relief train arrived from Rohri. With the help of heavy machinery, the detached coaches were reattached and the affected train and other delayed trains were allowed to proceed towards their respective destinations.
