ISLAMABAD: A meeting at the Capital Development Authority (CDA) on Saturday decided to hold 10 Ramazan Bazaars in Islamabad, besides reviewing preparations for the holy month.

Meeting was chaired by Chief Commissioner Islamabad and CDA Chairman Mohammad Ali Randhawa.

Meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner Islamabad Irfan Nawaz Memon, Chief Officer MCI Dr Anam Fatima, along with senior officers from the district administration and CDA.

Mohammad Ali Randhawa directed that the best arrangements be made for Ramazan bazaars and that the availability of quality goods at official rates be ensured.

During the briefing, the officers concernedinformed the meeting that during the Ramazan, seven Ramazan bazaars will be organised at various locations across the city, and three weekly bazaars in Islamabad will also be converted into Ramazan bazaars.

The bazaars will also be established at locations including Bahara Kahu, Pakistan Town Islamabad Expressway and Tarnol.

Briefing the meeting, it was informed that the purpose of these measures is to ensure the provision of affordable and quality food items to citizens at low rates.

The Ramazan bazaars, cash-and-carry stalls and stalls of various companies will be set up, and a ‘Chand Bazaar’ will also be organised in the last 10 days of Ramazan for Eidul Fitr shopping.

Chief Commissioner Islamabad directed that all Ramazan bazaars be made cashless so that citizens can avail the best digital payment facilities easily. He also directed special attention be given to the beautification and cleanliness of the bazaars.

He directed the Assistant Commissioners concernedand Magistrates to visit the bazaars and markets. He instructed that construction and repair work in the Ramazan bazaars be completed before the start of holy month.

CDA Chairman Mohammad Ali Randhawa said that specific stalls should also be allocated in Ramazan bazaars for the sale of organic items. He gave instructions that no compromise of any kind on the quality of food items will be tolerated during Ramazan.

He said that maintenance and security arrangements for all Auqaf mosques and Imambargahs should also be completed.

He said special lighting arrangements should be made at Faisal Mosque and other mosques during Ramazan.

The CDA Chairman said that during Ramazan, various healthy activities and sports should be organised for citizens in the sports grounds of Islamabad city.

He further said that the purpose of all these measures was to ensure the provision of the best facilities to citizens during the holy month.
