ISLAMABAD: Robbers shot and injured two persons in separate robbery incidents, while a gang looted six people after setting up a makeshift picket about two kilometres from a police station, police said.
In the first incident, a man was shot and injured during a robbery about a kilometre away from a police station. The injured was identified as Ali Hassan Sakhawat.
Police said three persons riding a motorcycle intercepted Sakhawat near a grid station in I-8/1 and held him at gunpoint. The gunmen looted an iPhone and an Infinix Hot 11 Play from him.
However, Sakhawat put up resistance, which angered the robbers, who opened fire. As a result, he sustained a bullet injury.
In another incident, a gunman shot and injured the owner of a dairy farm during a robbery at a milk shop located about half a kilometre from a police station. The injured was identified as Ulfat Khan.
Ulfat Khan had come to the milk shop in Tarnol to deliver a milk supply when a man armed with a pistol raided the shop and started scuffling with him. The gunman later fired at Ulfat Khan when he attempted to take shelter inside the shop.
As a result, he sustained a bullet injury. Meanwhile, Ulfat Khan’s two cousins reached the shop.
The gunman held them at gunpoint, threatened them with dire consequences and demanded cash. He later looted Rs130,000 from them and escaped along with the booty.
Meanwhile, a gang of robbers looted Rs3.3 million from two persons about a kilometre away from a police station.
The incident took place on the Islamabad Expressway when Osama Sharif, along with his cousin, was returning from a bank after withdrawing cash to buy a car. They hired a motorcycle of an online service to reach their destination when two people riding another motorcycle intercepted them.
The two riders pulled out pistols and held Osama Sharif and his cousin at gunpoint. Shortly afterwards, the gunmen looted the cash and fled.
Furthermore, a gang of robbers set up a picket about two kilometres from a police station and looted cash and valuables from six people.
Three armed men established the picket near a factory in the Tarnol area. They first intercepted Samiur Rehman while he was going to deliver a milk supply, looted Rs50,000 and a Sparx Ultra 8 mobile phone, and detained him along the roadside.
Soon after, another motorcyclist, Mohammad Iftikhar, arrived at the spot. The gunmen intercepted him, looted Rs800 and a Redmi A3 mobile phone, and detained him as well.
Later, the robbers intercepted three more motorcyclists. They looted Rs4,000 and a Vivo Y75A mobile phone from Mohammad Kamran, Rs8,000 and an Infinix Smart 6 mobile phone from Ghani Badshah, and Rs5,500 and a Tecno Spark 1 mobile phone from Mohammad Nadeem.
All were detained along the roadside.
Subsequently, another motorcyclist, Kousar Ali, appeared at the spot. The robbers held him at gunpoint and looted Rs130,000 and a Samsung mobile phone from him.
