RAWALPINDI: Federal Minister for Railways Hanif Abbasi has said a comprehensive plan has been prepared to upgrade the Rohri Railway Station, in partnership with the Sindh government, after the upgrade of Karachi Cantt Station.

As the railway authorities focus on railway infrastructure in the Sukkur division after Karachi, a meeting chaired by Minister for Railways Hanif Abbasi discussed plans for the upgrading of railway infrastructure and passenger amenities in detail.

After Rohri, the Sukkur railway station will be restored to its historical condition, while the refurbishment and upgrade of the Sukkur Express rakes will also be completed soon.

Following the directives of the prime minister the Mr Abbasi announced the launch of major railway development projects in Sindh in collaboration with the Sindh government. The Rohri upgrade project will be implemented with the support of the provincial government, which will fund 50pc of the total cost, and a comprehensive master plan for the upgrade of this station has been prepared.

Tenders for the project will be issued this month and the renovations are expected to be completed by June next year.
