It’s not just kids who get glued to those “how things work” videos — adults fall for them too. No doubt it is satisfying to see how the inside of a machine work or move.

Interestingly, I recently came across a website on this very theme and I couldn’t stop exploring it. The site is www.animagraffs.com — a fascinating space for anyone who loves to see how things actually work, through stunning animated infographics.

As the name suggests, animagraffs, its actually animated infographics and that’s why it’s straightforward. The main homepage acts like a gallery. You scroll through and pick whatever topic looks interesting to you.

Clicking any will open a new page with a large, detailed animation and explanations that show each part in motion. For example, if you choose the electric guitar, you can actually see how it extracts sound, and how a magnetised string creates moving magnetic field, and how a single string produces a mirror signal for each coil. This is fascinating as you might have never seen the inner working of any electric guitar. Not all equipments have animated infographics, some have video explanations too.

The overall experience is smooth, though the homepage can feel a little overwhelming, since there’s so much to look at. Also, there is no category filter, which some of you may find frustrating because everything is listed one after the other, and often diverse from one another, such as “How a Formula 1 Race Car Works,” “How a Sewing Machine Works,” “How speakers Make Sound,” “Disc vs. Drum Brake,” “How to Moonwalk,” etc.

The website creator is open to contributions from people interested in making the same 3D infographics of anything, from toys to electric devices to even big scale engineering structures.

So if you are curious to know the mechanism of various equipment visit Animagraffs and make your learning experience even more fun!
