LAHORE: The Punjab government has issued a notification for the increase in the minimum wage from Rs37,000 to Rs40,000 per month for labour.

The increase in the minimum wage was announced in the budget in the month of June but its notification was not issued.

Provincial Minister for Labour and Human Resource Malik Faisal Ayub Khokhar, announced that all workers across the province would now be entitled to a minimum monthly wage of Rs40,000 for 26 working days. According to this notification, a worker performing eight hours of daily labour will receive a minimum of Rs1,538.46 per day.

The minister said that all field formations of the Labour Welfare Department will ensure strict implementation of the minimum wage notification.
