ISLAMABAD: City managers on Friday decided to conduct a door-to-door survey in the capital to create a database based on geo-tagging, capturing accurate location, residence and other details of every citizen.

The scope of the survey will cover not only urban areas but also rural localities and informal settlements, according to a press release issued by the Capital Development Authority (CDA) on Friday.

It said a meeting was held under CDA Chairman Mohammad Ali Randhawa regarding the launch of a door-to-door survey and a mobile application aimed at ensuring the safety and protection of lives and property of Islamabad’s citizens, as well as implementing optimal security measures.

The meeting was attended by CDA Member Administration and Estate Talat Mahmood, Member Environment Esfandyar Baloch, DIG Islamabad Police Jawad Tariq, representatives from the Ministry of Interior, District Administration, NADRA, Pakistan Bureau of Statistics and other senior officers.

Survey to cover urban, rural and informal settlements; data aimed at improving security and future planning

During the meeting, NADRA gave a briefing on the “Pak ID” app, explaining that through this app, citizens would be able to register themselves from home with minimal data entry fields and a user-friendly process in a short time.

“Additionally, a door-to-door survey will be initiated in the city to create a database based on geo-tagging, capturing accurate location, residence, and other details of every citizen. The scope of this survey will extend not only to urban but also to rural areas and informal settlements,” the press release stated.

It added that the primary objective of the survey is to create a comprehensive database for all areas of the capital, which will serve as a foundation for effective planning and development works in the future, alongside ensuring the safety and security of citizens.

Mr Randhawa directed that the app be made more user-friendly and integrated with other existing applications.

It will include an automated data collection feature, allowing citizens to input their information themselves, making the process faster and more efficient.

According to the press release, the meeting decided that complete details of all family members, tenants, relatives and foreign nationals would be collected to enhance security in the city.

For high-quality imagery required for the door-to-door survey, assistance will also be sought from Suparco.

The meeting further decided that a comprehensive awareness campaign would be launched to encourage maximum citizen participation in the app-based registration.

Chairman CDA said the “Pak ID” app and the door-to-door survey would assist the district administration and other institutions in effective planning and service provision.

He emphasised that no effort would be spared to ensure the peace and safety of the citizens of the federal capital and that all necessary resources would be utilised to enable people to live in a secure environment.
