QUETTA: Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has assured the Balochistan government of full cooperation from the Centre to maintain peace in the province.

The federal government “stands shoulder-to-shoulder” with Balochistan in the war against terrorism, said the interior minister while chairing a special meeting along with Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti on Saturday to review the law and order situation in the province.

Balochistan Inspector General of Police Moazzam Jah Ansari, Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Hamza Shafqaat, CTD DIG Aitzaz Goraya, Frontier Corps (North) IG Maj Gen Abid Mazhar, Levies DG Abdul Ghaffar Magsi and other senior officials of law enforcement agencies also attended the meeting.

They discussed the ongoing operations against terrorists in different areas of Balochistan and the performance of law enforcement agencies.

Interior minister, CM review security situation

CM Bugti briefed the meeting on the current law and order situation, strategies of security forces and the implementation status of the provincial action plan.

Mr Naqvi, the interior minister, said the government was committed to eradicating terrorism. He emphasised that “Indian-sponsored terrorists” and their facilitators would find no place to hide in Pakistan and be brought to justice at all costs. “Those challenging the writ of the state will be dealt with an iron hand,” the minister said, adding that that there was complete coordination between the federal and provincial governments in this regard.

Action against terrorists had been accelerated, CM Bugti said, urging the nation to support the steps aimed at achieving peace. He said the sacrifices of security personnel and civilians would not go in vain as the government would restore peace at all costs.

The chief minister highlighted unity among the nation to defeat the nefarious designs of the enemy.

Earlier on his arrival in Quetta, Mr Naqvi was received at the airport by provincial ministers and senior officials.
