LAHORE: The Multan Electric Power Company (Mepco) claimed a 1.8pc reduction in line losses, achievement of 100pc recovery rate and substantial cuts in financial losses and operational improvements for the fiscal year 2024-25.

Company management attributed these gains to employee efforts, announcing a one-month salary bonus for all staff following approval from the Ministry of Energy and Mepc’s board of directors.

Board Chairman Engineer Amir Zia said, “Beyond meeting financial targets, we’ve maintained uninterrupted power supply and enhanced service delivery.” Millions of new connections were added during the reporting period, with recovery rates improving from 97.2pc to 100pc year-over-year, he said.

CEO Engineer Gul Muhammad Zahid outlined operational reforms including upgraded customer service centers and digital complaint systems. “Our sub-divisional offices serve as critical public interfaces requiring continued investment,” Mr Zahid noted, acknowledging the board’s leadership for strategic guidance.

Key performance metrics showed AT&C losses decreasing to 12.9pc (a 3.5pc improvement) and a Rs24.6 billion reduction in company deficits.

The Mepco management vowed to sustain these gains in the coming fiscal year through continued infrastructure modernisation and service enhancements across its southern Punjab operational territory.
