KARACHI: A man and his wife were killed when their motorcycle rammed into a stationary oil tanker in the SITE area late on Wednesday night, police said on Thursday.

They were identified as Mohammed Jameel and his wife, Nighat.

Traffic DIG Pir Mohammed Shah said the man attempted to overtake the stationary oil tanker from the left side near Siemens Chowrangi. However, the passage was quite narrow, due to which the motorcycle collided with the heavy vehicle, leading to the deaths of the couple.

The deceased had a helmet with him but he was not wearing it at the time of the accident.

The traffic police chief opined that the incident occurred mainly due to the bike rider’s unsafe overtaking manoeuvre.
