KARACHI: A man was shot dead by robbers in Orangi Town early on Tuesday morning, police said.

They identified the victim as Mohammed Kashif, 38, and said that the incident took place in Sector-5 near Ghausia Masjid.

Pirabad SHO Anees Shaikh told Dawn that the Kashif, along with his younger brother Ahmed Husain, was standing outside their home in Ghousia Colony when two suspect were fleeing on a motorbike after robbing some people in the area.

He said that their speeding bike slopped and the suspects fell on the road. In the meantime, one of the robbers opened fire and a bullet hit Kashif in the chest.

Both suspects managed to escape on their motorbike.

The wounded man was initially taken to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital in a private car from where he was shifted to a private hospital in North Nazimabad, where he died during treatment.

10 hurt as cattle traders clash

Ten people were injured when cattle traders in Malir clashed with each other using hard and blunt instruments over an issue involving harnessing of sacrificial animals at a market, police said.

Malir City SHO Farasat Shah told Dawn that 10 men were hurt in the incident. They were identified as Roshan, 53, Sikander, 48, Niaz, 26, Ashfaq, 35, Saddam, 24, Azeem, 24, Qurban, 30, Abdul Wahid, 21, Rustam Khan, 55 and Asif, 25.

The officer said they were shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for treatment and their condition was stated to be out of danger.
