ISLAMABAD: Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) Chairperson Senator Rubina Khalid has said mobility and biometric verification of beneficiaries was essential and could not be compromised.

She was chairing an important meeting at the BISP Headquarters with Chief Digital Officer of Karandaaz Sharjeel Murtaza with an aim to accelerate the launch of a new digital payment system via Raast in seven districts across the country.

The meeting focused on fast-tracking the implementation of the pilot project to improve the digital disbursement mechanism for BISP beneficiaries.

Emphasising the importance of secure and efficient service delivery, the BISP chairperson said: “We aim to make the lives of our 10 million beneficiaries easier. We must adopt a proactive approach to ensure timely and smooth rollout.”

Sharjeel Murtaza briefed the chairperson on the current status of the pilot project, assuring that the Karandaaz team is fully aligned with BISP’s objectives.

He said: “Pilot projects are important, and we, along with the BISP team, are making every possible effort to ensure its success.”

The meeting also explored the potential introduction of mobile wallet payments on a pilot basis in selected low-workload regions to test feasibility and efficiency. It was agreed that other partner stakeholders will be invited to join discussions to further expedite the process.
