LAHORE: The Punjab University’s Institute of Chemical Engineering and Technology (ICET) held its inaugural on-campus recruitment drive.

ICET Director Prof Dr Syed Nadir Hussain, faculty, and representatives from Packages Group welcomed approximately 200 students.

The company’s team presentation highlighted the company’s history, business operations, innovation culture, sustainability efforts, and the Packages Aspire Management Trainee Programme.

The event underscored the ICET’s commitment to providing students with direct industrial recruitment exposure and enhancing employability.

Dr Hussain thanked the Packages Group, emphasizing the importance of strong academia-industry linkages and exploring collaborative opportunities.

Meanwhile, the PU Examinations Department extended the deadline to May 15 for submitting admission forms and fees for LLB (3-year) Part-II, III and LLB (5-year) Part-I, II, III, IV, and V annual examinations 2025.

GCU: Old Ravian Dr Masood Akbar donated Rs14.7m to the Government College University Endowment Fund Trust (GCUEFT).

This contribution will fund 15 new Golden Scholarships for deserving students, increasing the total number of scholarships he supports to 55.

Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Omer Chaudhry expressed gratitude, emphasizing Dr Akbar’s commitment to educational uplift and youth empowerment.

Separately, the GCU Film Study Circle screened “Chiilaar,” a short film by Fine Arts alumni Minahil and Amaar.

The GCU VC and Old Ravians Union President Athar Ismail were present.

The film highlights women’s rights and the Punjab Police’s role, promoting “Police Awam Sath Sath” and the police’s societal contributions.

Palestinian graduates: Punjab Assembly Speaker Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan says he will invite Palestinian graduates from Pakistan universities to attend a session of the assembly in recognition of their efforts and achievements.

He was speaking at the graduation ceremony of Palestinian students at the University of Lahore here on Tuesday.

He called for house jobs and necessary facilities to be provided to the young Palestinian doctors, making a special appeal to the Punjab health minister in this regard.

He stated that the education of Palestinian students in Pakistan is a manifestation of the Pakistani nation’s humanitarian values.

He appreciated the prime minister for offering free education to students arriving from Gaza and emphasised that Pakistan will continue to raise its voice for the Palestinian cause at every international forum.

The speaker emphasised that the government should urge the international community to implement the United Nations resolutions on Palestine. “If the lives of global citizens matter, then so do the lives of the Palestinian people,” he remarked.

Speaker Khan also drew a parallel between the situation in Kashmir and Palestine, highlighting the ongoing oppression in both regions.

The ceremony was attended by Ambassador of Palestine Dr Zuhair Zahid, Health Minister Khwaja Imran Nazir, Minister for Specialised Healthcare Khwaja Salman Rafique, Rector Dr Muhammad Ashraf, and Al-Khidmat Foundation President Dr Hafeezur Rehman.
