KOHAT: Two cousins were gunned down in Dhodha union council over a petty dispute here on Friday.

Afaq and Hanif were going to the bazaar on a motorcycle when the accused, identified as Zeeshan and Ehtesham, opened fire on them after exchanging harsh words with them over some dispute, the police said.

They said the bodies were taken to KDA Hospital, and after autopsy, handed over to relatives.

An FIR was lodged against the accused, and a search for their arrest was underway.

Meanwhile, the police arrested dozens for hooliganism in the famous Dhodha and Masood parks on Friday.

Separately, the Saddar police arrested 22 suspects in the Tanda Dam picnic spot on Friday.

SHO Mir Afzal said that acting on the orders of district police officer Zahidullah, they conducted raids at several hideouts and rounded up the suspects.

OUTLAW KILLED: Unknown armed men attacked a police patrol in the mountainous area of Regi Shinokhel on Hangu highway, where, during heavy exchange of fire, one of their accomplices, was killed.

District police officer Zahidullah reached the spot along with reinforcements and launched a search for the arrest of other accomplices.

The firing continued for an hour, after which the criminals managed to escape.

The DPO said that the criminal record of the deceased, identified as Shahzeb, was being checked to ascertain whether he was a militant, a robber, or a drug peddler.

The whole area on Hangu highway was cordoned off, where in the past dacoits and militants had killed officials of Counter-Terrorism Department, and looted visitors to the Tanda Dam.

Regional police officer Abbas Majeed Marwat said that the police killed a facilitator of the terrorists. “He was the most wanted terrorist wanted in seven cases.”

A Rescue 1122 spokesman said that soon after receiving the call from the control room, they rushed two ambulances with staff to the scene, and shifted the body of the outlaw to the KDA Hospital.
