HARIPUR: Sitting and former lawmakers belonging to different political parties vowed at a convention here on Sunday to continue their struggle for the creation of Hazara province.

Federal minister and chairman of Sooba Hazara Tehreek Sardar Mohammad Yusuf, MNA Babar Nawaz Khan, Senator Talha Mahmood, former chief minister Pir Sabir Shah, former deputy speaker National Assembly, Murtaza Javed Abbasi, former provincial minister Qazi Mohammad Asad Khan and former MPA Nawabzada Wali Mohammad Khan addressed “Sooba Hazara Convention”.

Speakers said that the movement for Hazara province was a popular demand grounded in the ideology of unity and brotherhood of different tribes living in Hazara for centuries.

“We want a province purely on administrative grounds rather than on the basis of language as we, the Hazarawals, belong to different ethnic identities and are connected with bonds of brotherhood,” said federal minister Sardar Yusuf.

He said that the provincial assembly passed four resolutions while Senate and the National Assembly adopted one each, supporting the aspirations of people of Hazara.

“Hazara province’s creation is part of PML-N’s manifesto and the leadership would honour its words,” he said.

MNA Babar Nawaz Khan accused the provincial government of depriving people of Hazara of their right to development.

Senator Talha Mahmood said that creation of new provinces would help bring prosperity to the underdeveloped areas.

Pir Sabir Shah said that it was an opportune time to accept the longstanding demand of people of Hazara.
