CHINIOT: A woman was killed over a torture case and divorce issue in Chak 10, Gujjaran, on Sunday night.

Munawwar Ali got his daughter Taveel Bibi married to Tahir Ali, a relative and resident of the same village. However, the couple developed differences and Taveel returned to her paternal home.

On Jan 23 night, Tahir along with Shabbir Gloter and Safia Bibi stormed into their house, where Aqsa, a college student and daughter of Munawwar, was sitting with her family members.

They attacked her and her sister, Aleeza, with sticks and rods. When she fell to the ground, Shabbir dragged her by her hair and tore her clothes, leaving her partially naked.

The attackers also tore Aleeza’s clothes, claiming they were avenging the divorce sought by Taveel.

Aqsa submitted an application to Saddar police; however, the police registered a case on Feb 8 under sections 354, 337 L-2, and 34 of PPC.

In the meantime, suspects secured pre-arrest bail from the court.

On Sunday, Aqsa was at home with her mother, Bushra, sister Nadia, and Nadia’s husband, Tasawar Abbas, when Shabbir, the prime suspect in the previous FIR, along with two unidentified accomplices, opened fire on her mother, and killed her.

Police registered another case on application of Aqsa against the suspects. Shabbir surrendered to police after the registration of the case, claiming he has been implicated in both cases.
