Harmful boycott

Published February 2, 2025

THE Sindh chapter of the Federation of All Pakistan Universities Academic Staff Association (FAPUASA) has vowed to continue boycott of classes till further notice. Such an unprofessional step is hindering the academic process in the province. The boycott has been going on for almost three weeks.

The government should find a solution to whatever the problem is, and it must be found without any delay so that educational activities may resume. FAPUASA’s demands may be important for its members, but boycotting classes and depriving students of their right to education is not the solution. It would be more appropriate to find a solution through dialogue. Boycott of classes is causing problems only to the students, and they are not in a position to provide any relief to the teachers.

On its part, the government should keep in mind that education is important for the development of the province. If students’ time is wasted, it will be harmful for the social and economic development in the future.

Time is running out. The government should take action without further delay and solve the problem so that classes may resume in a peaceful atmosphere.
