GUJRAT: A woman was allegedly gang raped and then pushed down from the third floor of a private guest house in Gondalanwala Chowk locality of Gujranwala, in the limits of Model Town police.

As per police sources, a Gujranwala-based man developed friendship with a woman from Sheikhupura district on social media and lured her to a guest house in the city.

At the guest house, the suspect and his two accomplices allegedly gang raped the woman after administering her tranquilisers.

When the woman regained consciousness, she threatened the suspects to lodge a complaint against them with police.

To conceal their crime, the suspects allegedly pushed the woman down from the third-floor of the building and fled away, the sources said.

On being informed of the incident, police and Rescue 1122 teams reached the spot after collecting evidence, shifted the victim to the Gujranwala Teaching Hospital, where her condition is said to be critical.

Police say a case has been lodged against the suspects on charges of gang rape and attempted murder on the report of the sister of the victim.

The police have also recorded initial statement of the victim.

Police claimed to have arrested the main suspect, while some independent sources say that his two accomplices have also been detained.

Gujranwala City Police Officer (CPO) Rana Ayaz Saleem, taking notice of the incident, directed the city SP to conduct investigation into the matter and submit a report.
