KARACHI: Senior Jamaat-i-Islami (JI) leader Munim Zafar became the chief of its Karachi chapter on Friday, said a statement issued by the party.

He is the 20th chief of the JI Karachi chapter. The office had become vacant after Hafiz Naeemur Rehman was elected as the sixth emir of the JI in April .

Born in 1974 in Karachi, Mr Zafar holds a master’s degrees in International Relations from the University of Karachi.
