CHARSADDA: A constable sustained injuries when a suspect opened fire on the police here on Wednesday.

Officials said the city police received information about the presence of an armed suspect along the Tangi Road. They said the police rushed to the scene to arrest the suspect. However, he started firing when he saw the police party. As a result, constable Attaullah was injured.

The suspect was also injured when the cops retaliated to the firing, the officials said.

The injured cop was and the suspect were shifted to hospital. The identity of the suspect could not be ascertained as yet.

Charsadda district police officer Nazir Khan visited the hospital and enquired after the injured constable.

He directed the medical staff to provide best healthcare to the injured.
